Recently Kevin O’Leary made a video suggesting that wristwatches are “phenomenal” investments. He then goes on to cherry pick a handful of extremely hard to find and very desirable watch models to back up his argument. Just because the Rolex Daytona, Rolex Submariner Hulk, and Rolex GMT Master II along with the Patek Philippe Nautilus and Audemars Piguet Royal Oak are exceptions to the rule, doesn’t mean that watches in general are good investments. In fact they are rather poor investments.

Thanks for watching!

The Kermit, without wearing any watch on his wrist, looks so happy up there…

Ferien7 says:

Have you suspected that maybe he was being sarcastic?

Scott SJ says:

Good video. Unless Kevin can get those at MRSP, it will be a bad investment buying higher than market value.

JoeyJoe says:

you are so right with everything you said. He actually responded to my comment on that video . I basically said all those watches are very overpriced as it is , so now is not the time to invest in them because more than likely there will be another housing market crash which will have repercussions . My strategy nowadays has been to collect luxury discontinued pieces that have a cult following or limited seiko divers . Both types of watches allow me to collect , finance and enjoys wrist watches for the long term without evr really taking a bath. it took me about 5 years to finally realize this tho ,so ive been fully bathed by now , lol…

These 6 watches are also among the most cloned.

Everyone seems to forget that the Speedmaster Snoopy is also a crazy good investment right now. But yeah Kevin's video was terrible.

Jeffrey Wood says:

Great PSA – Thanks Guy 🙂

Mtalll1 says:

At some point you end up telling yourself that lie. "Im not crazy its an investment". The only way watches can be an investment is if you are a watch seller yourself. If not you are just hoarding stuff that you are emotionally involved with, the pieces can be worth a lot but you will only want and spend more. When you want/need to sell who is going to trust you as a reputable dealer? Or who are you going to trust as a reputable buyer? Like guy said.
